Our Head roaster Rene Macaulay has visited the Sidama co-op twice over the years, 2019 being the last trip. He has always been impressed with the professionalism of how the leadership and vision are carried out.

Ethiopia has many issues confronting coffee producers. The Sidama co-op continues to produce excellent-tasting coffee while managing extremely difficult situations. Climate change is already changing where farmers are succeeding in production, and non-export crops are becoming more appealing to local producers despite having the best coffee in the world.

We are honoured to supply you with this coffee as it represents a very fragile but important part of the global supply chain. Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee and yields the best-tasting coffee hands down, but has many factors depleting the coffee trade of viability. Segai, the cooperative manager, is an astute businessman and well-loved community leader who understands the lives of the members well, and is highly motivated to support them through the coffee trade.

Premiums we pay go towards running education programs for members which they have decided as important in developing their lives in many ways we couldn’t predict. Grab a bag of this limited coffee while it lasts and help us support the Sidma cooperative.
